About
Hello everyone! My name is Hannah and I’m so glad you found this corner of the internet where precariously piled stacks of books may come tumbling down anytime. It can be a bit chaotic at times, but hey, isn’t that life?
Anyhow, allow me to introduce myself.
Some people say I have too many hobbies, but I prefer the term “jack-of-all-trades.” At any moment you could find me writing, sewing, baking bread, playing violin or piano, skiing, cycling, hiking, camping, reading, and doing many other “-ing” words.
Writing, however, is a special hobby. I’ve always written stories, beginning with stick figure drawings and then working up to chicken scratch with questionable spelling. I wrote Disney Princess and Harry Potter fanfictions, and then eventually began creating my own original stories.
Writing has been a way to process the events in my life – both the hard and tremendously amazing experiences.
“One day, you will tell your story of how you overcame what you went through and it will be someone else’s survival guide.”
-Brene Brown
That is why I write. I thread real life experiences, both triumphs and tragedies, into my stories in hopes that it can help the reader.
I enjoy writing contemporary and magical realism stories that usually feature big families, yummy food, and endless adventure. My past writing projects have involved a magnificent feud between hat shops, a mysterious ranch monster, and two ghosts trying desperately to come back alive.
On this blog you’ll also see a different side of my writing – attempted nonfiction ramblings with a hint of sarcasm. Here, I like to write about how I read and process stories as a writer. You might come across a super in-depth analysis of my favorite book or movie where I nerd out way too much. Or you might find an overly philosophical post talking about the role that real life experiences play in made-up stories. (Like I said, it’s a bit chaotic here.)
