11 Things to do on a Trampoline
About once every two months, my family visits our cousins. They live on a farm outside of town, which means they have a huge yard. In this giant yard, they have a trampoline. Ever since we were little, we’ve played on that trampoline, and we’ve come up with many fun games to play.
1. Frozen Butter!
This is a great game for younger kids. Everyone is a frozen butter stick, and jumps with straight legs. The black trampoline is the frying pan, and if you fall, you slowly melt unless another butter stick helps you up.
2. Butt war
This is a good game if you want to get some exercise. Everyone gets in a circle on the trampoline, and on the count of three, falls back on their butt. You have to bounce yourself up and then fall back again. The last one going wins.
We’ve added more to this by having someone shout “To the left!” or “To the right!” and we have to move to right while bouncing. Other ways to add to this are jumping on one leg. You can make it harder by bouncing on your knees too.
3. One…Two…Three!
This is a good game for lots of people. Everyone gets in a circle, and bounces in unison, counting to three. On three, everyone jumps and lands on their butt. Some people, if they time if correctly, bounce super high. To make this a contest, whoever doesn’t land on their feet after bouncing on their butt is out, and the last one standing wins.
4. Toe Touchers
This is a game meant for older kids. Be warned, you can get hurt pretty bad in this game. To play it, someone has to crawl on their hands and knees. Everyone else jumps around. The person crawling has to try to touch the toes of the people jumping around. When someone’s toes get touched, they crawl around too.
5. Jumpers got Talent
The name of this game has varied a lot, but the last time we played it, we called it “Jumpers got Talent” This is a good game for doing tricks without worrying about running into someone. Two or three judges are selected, and they sit to the side. Everyone else sits on the opposite side of the trampoline. The judges say a theme (best flip, make me laugh, dramatic skit, baby jumping, etc.) Each person takes a turn doing their trick or skit related to the theme and the judges select two or three winners, who are the next judges.
6. Copy
This is a good game if there are toddlers on the trampoline. Everyone stands in a circle, and the toddler stands in the middle. This way the toddler won’t fall off. Everyone copies what the toddler does. Of course, if the toddler jumps up and down, you don’t want to jump up and down super hard. This can be super fun if the toddler realizes that everyone copies what they do. It will result in many laughs.
7. Crack the Egg
Everyone stands on the sides, and someone sits in the middle. The person in the middle curls up, and has to hold that position for as long as he can. Everyone else jumps to try “crack the egg”
8. It’s Raining!
This is a great game for when it’s hot outside. Set up a sprinkler under the trampoline, and jump. You will eventually get soaked, and it’s a lot of fun. The trampoline gets a lot more slippery, which makes for a lot of laughs. Playing other games while the sprinkler is under the trampoline is a lot of fun too.
9. Jump in the Rain!
When it rains (and sometimes when it snows) my cousins and I love to jump. It gets especially crazy when the wind picks up. I’ve never jumped in the snow before, but my cousins have, and it sounds like fun. We also have jumped when it’s cold. The trampoline is cold, which means we have to wear socks. This makes for a fun challenge.
10. Jump in the Dark!
I’ve only done this a few times, but it’s always been fun. You can set up lights around the trampoline and also jump with glow sticks and headlamps. If you get the right amount of light, you won’t be able to see the canvas of the trampoline, which is a lot of fun.
11. Sleepover!
Take some blankets and sleeping bags out and sleep on the trampoline. When you wake up, its fun to try to jump in a sleeping bag. It’s even better when it’s a clear night out and you can see the stars.
What are some of your favorite things to do on a trampoline?
Until next time,
