The Liebster Award (AKA Answering and Giving Random Questions)
Hello, everyone!
This week I’m participating in the Liebster Award tag! Rachel at Prose Worthy very kindly tagged me for this, and I’m super excited to answer her questions!
The Rules:
1. Thank the person who nominated you, include a link to their blog, and add the Liebster Award badge to your blog and/or post.
2. Answer the eleven questions from the person who nominated you.
3. Give eleven random facts about yourself.
4. Nominate 5-11 fellow bloggers with less than 200 followers.
5. Notify your nominees that you nominated them for the Liebster Award.
6. Ask your nominees eleven questions.
What is your favorite book and why?
Okay, here we go. *cracks knuckles* I’ve kind of narrowed my favorite books list down to three books, one each in a different overarching genre.
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater is my favorite YA book. The book basically screams autumn, with the occasional carnivorous water horse thrown in. I may or may not have read it a total of three times in 2020…
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is one of my favorite classics. This book is like a puzzle and I can’t wait to see what a reread of it brings!
Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech is my favorite middle grade book. Even though it’s middle grade, it hits hard. It’s a great book for kids, but this is a middle grade book that an adult could read and they would get a lot out of it too.
What is your favorite movie and why?
Ack! Why must you make me try to decide this!?
I will always love How to Train Your Dragon (I’m pretty sure you’ve heard me ramble on and on about it a lot) For Christmas, I got the 25th anniversary of Phantom of the Opera on DVD, and watching that just makes me so happy. But I’d have to say right now my favorite movie is 2020 Emma. The costumes and sets and music and just the whole movie are like a giant chef’s kiss.
What is your favorite bookstore?
I live in a very rural area where the reigning bookstore is Barnes and Noble. I like buying books from there, but they get expensive! So I usually end up buying books from my siblings or from thrift stores or ebay. I love saying that my primary bookstore is my brother’s bookshelf!
What books got you started into the world of reading?
The first book I “read” was an “I Can Read” Cinderella book. (I say “read” because I actually just memorized the words and used the pictures to help me read it) But then when I was a little older, I had a huge obsession with horses. So my mom bought me a horse book and I read any and all horse books I could get my hands on.
Who is your favorite character of any book and why?
I really like comedic relief characters. They are a nice break from the angsty, seriousness that a YA protagonist has, and honestly they are a little bit more realistic. So I’ll have to give this one to Captain Carswell Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles.
If you could choose one historical era to visit, which one would you choose and why?
*spends approximately a century thinking about this* Oh gosh, this is hard.
If I had to choose an era because of historical events, I’d probably choose the Renaissance or maybe the Industrial Revolution?
And If I had to choose only focusing on what people were wearing at the time, it would be a three way tie between the 1780’s, 1810’s, and 1830’s.
Which is your favorite to read: hardcover, paperback, or e-book?
Hardcover for sure! I love the solid feeling that a hardcover has, and that I don’t have to worry about keeping the spine super nice. The only issue is that hardcovers can get heavy and they are really expensive. But I still really like them.
What is your favorite blog post you’ve ever written?
One of my favorite posts to write was 1 Year (ish) of Blogging I think of it as *the* post where I finally figured out my writing voice for blog posts. It was the first post where I allowed myself to be sarcastic and humorous and energetic, and since then I’ve really tried to let that voice come through.
What is the book release that you’ve anticipated the most ever?
Mmmm… I haven’t really anticipated many book releases. I only got into the world of book releases and such a year or so ago. The one book release I’ve actually known about (and was super excited for) was the release of A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and I’m super proud to say that I bought the book on the day it was released!
If you could turn one book into a movie, which would it be?
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle would make a great adventure movie. So would Chasing Redbird. But then again, I have a major distrust for movies that were based off of books, so maybe I can just avoid this question? *slinks away*
What word is impossible for you to spell?
Haha! I rely on autocorrect a lot. I can’t spell separately, but somehow I can remember how to spell deoxiribonucleic acid from sixth grade science? I also can’t spell necessarily, opportunity, or February. Lets go ahead and add neutral to that list too. But hey, autocorrect is here, so I might as well use it?
I hope you all enjoyed reading this! These questions were a ton of fun to answer!

Hi! I’m Hannah, a crazy pen-wielding, jack-of-all-trades writer. I write contemporary stories with a magical (or vintage!) twist, usually featuring big families, delicious food, and a few tear jerking scenes. When I’m not writing, you could find me camping, sewing, hiking, cycling, skiing, playing violin or piano, reading, and many other “-ing” words.
My sister knows how to say DNA LOL!
I have no idea why it’s almost all I remember from a science class! It’s kind of weird 😂
Thank you for the nomination, Hannah!
You’re so welcome! 😃 I hope you have fun with the questions!
