A Whole Bunch of Tags (Leibster Award and Outsanding Blogger Award)
Hello!
Yep. I’ve officially decided that this is the month of tags. Today, I’m going to be combining two different tags into one post. I’ve been tagged for The Outstanding Blogger Award by Lilli (Check out her blog here) I’ve also been tagged for the Leibster Award by both Cassidy and Alabama (Here’s Cassidy’s blog and here’s Alabama’s blog) Alabama tagged me for the Bookish Blogger Tag too, but I’ve already done that here. Thank you to Lilli, Cassidy, and Alabama! Make sure to go visit their blogs too!

Alabama’s Questions:
- Would you rather be a lion tamer or a sword swallower?
I think I’d rather be a lion tamer. Swallowing a sword is insane!
- When you look at a map, which part draws your eye?
The first thing that draws my eye is home. I find where I live first. Then something brightly colored, like the ocean.
- Do any of your characters in your work-in-progress annoy you?
Yes! I have quite a few characters in my WIP that annoy the heck out of me. Even worse, one of them is one of my protagonists…
- What book are you reading at the moment?
At the time I’m writing this, I’m reading Chasing Redbird by Sharon Creech. I haven’t read it for a few years, and honestly, I forgot how morbid it is for a middle grade book.
- What job could you actually enjoy but never thought about doing before?
Working at an escape room. That would be an interesting job. I’d enjoy it because I love escape rooms and puzzles and stories, and escape rooms are just so much fun!
- What is one book you never finished reading?
Pride and Prejudice. I’ve tried to read this twice and never finished it. The first time, I didn’t even finish the first chapter. The second time, I made it through almost two thirds of the book. I will finish it one day.
- Would you rather take archery lessons from Katniss Everdeen, Halt O’Carrick, or Robin Hood?
That would be so cool! I’d probably take lessons from Katniss Everdeen.
6. Do you prefer hoodies or t-shirts? (If temperature didn’t matter.)
I’d say t-shirts because hoodies can get in the way sometimes, but if I was taking temperature into account, I’d say t-shirts because I’d rather be too cold than too hot.
7. Have you ever had a nickname? If you did, what was it?
I have. The main nickname I have is “Hannah-Banana” but I’ve also been called any one of my siblings’ names too.
- Do you prefer writing full-length novels or short stories?
Agh! Why must I choose one? I like writing both because short stories and novels are different. I usually try to balance it out with writing shorts stories and novels, then I can be refreshed from either one.
- Would you rather tread water for half an hour or ski down the same hill for an entire day?
I’d like to tread water because it’s kind of relaxing. I wouldn’t want to ski down the same hill because then I’d just get bored, and why waste a day of skiing?
Now, Cassidy’s questions!
- What was that one book that really got you into reading?
I actually didn’t like reading when I was younger, but I loved horses. My mom got me a horse book, and I read it, then promptly got the next books in the series. From then on, I read lots and lots of books. (Many of them were horse related)
- What’s your favorite genre to read and to write in, if they’re different?
I read and write in a lot of genres. I enjoy fantasy, but there are a lot of cliches in it that frustrate me so much! I also like dystopian because it has the opportunity to be very thought provoking. Contemporary is nice and refreshing (although sometimes a little pointless) I haven’t read much sci-fi and horror, but I will read (and maybe write) them eventually.
- If you could spend the afternoon with one author, who would it be?
Hmm…. Maybe Shannon Hale? I’d ask her a lot about how she came up with her fantasy worlds. It’d also be really cool to meet K.M. Weiland. I’d ask her a lot of questions about character arcs and story structure.
- What’s your favorite season?
Whenever someone asks me this question, I give them a long explanation: I like it when seasons change. In winter I’ll be ready for springtime, in springtime I’ll be ready for summer, in summer I’ll be ready for fall, and in fall I’ll be ready for winter. I don’t like any one season because I like the change of weather. It keeps things from being too boring.
- How long have you been writing and blogging?
I’ve been coming up stories from when I was about 5, although I mostly just thought of these in my head and drew a few “comics” for them. I actually started writing stories when I was about 8? I wrote on my brother’s blog (centered around a tiny house he was building) when I was 10. I started my own blog about two years ago, forgot about it until this August 2019, and now we are here.
- If you could have a tea party with three fictional characters, who would they be?
Anne Shirley, Lucy Pevensie, and maybe Jo March.
- Paperback or hardcover books and why?
Again, I can’t decide. I like paperback books because they are generally cheaper than hardcovers, but they also get crinkled up much easier. Hardcovers are expensive, but I like the look and feel of a nice, solid hardcover in my hand.
- Do you have any pets?
Yes. My family has one dog, one cat, and two guinea pigs. We’ve also had beta fish and the occasional abandoned baby bird.
- Do you play any instruments?
I mainly play violin and oboe, but I also play piano and ukulele.
- Beaches or forests?
I don’t live anywhere near beaches, but I’ve been to them a few times, so I’d probably choose that. But at the same time, I’d probably miss forests…
- What are your favorite kinds of animals?
I was obsessed with horses for about the first ten years of my life, and I still hold a spot for them in my heart. I also really like alpacas (yes, alpacas, not llamas) and birds are really cool too, although I wouldn’t want one as a pet.

And now, for real, here are the questions Lili asked and I answered:
If you were stranded on an island, but could choose one fictional character to save you, who would it be?
Hmm… Maybe Katniss Everdeen because she’s good at surviving? But then again, this is an island, which has water, so Finnick or Mags? (Mags would be awesome)
Do you work best in the morning or evening?
I usually try to get a lot of my writing done in the morning because then it’s done for the day and it’s not hanging over my head. However, summer has made my days a little crazy and busy, so right now I do the majority of my writing in the evenings.
If you were to eat lunch with any celebrity, who would you choose?
Hmm… I’m not sure. Maybe Hugh Jackman?
What is the most memorable gift you’ve received?
A few years ago, my dad got me a typewriter for my birthday. I loved it so much and typed out a family newspaper on it. It’s not working right now, so I’m going to try to see if I can fix it *crosses fingers*
Other than food, what do you buy to treat yourself?
Books. Lots of books. Especially hardcover books.
Do you prefer writing with a pencil or pen?
I prefer a pen because pencils break or wear down and I’m too lazy to sharpen them. The solid black lines of a pen look much nicer than pencil. I love the fact that I can’t erase anything. The random crossed out words add a nice personality to my chicken scratch.
What’s your favorite day of the week?
Honestly, the day of the week doesn’t bother me much. I’d say Saturdays are nice, but when there’s nothing going on I feel very unproductive. I like Wednesdays because they are right in the middle of the week, which is a relief because I still have a few more days of the week left, but it’s also annoying because, well, there’s a few more days of the week left.
Here’s my set of questions for The Outstanding Blogger Award:
- What is the title of your first writing project? (bonus question: what is it about?)
- Do you prefer to write or read?
- What are your favorite aspects of a book cover?
- If your current project had a movie soundtrack, what movie would it be from?
- What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
- Make a YA novel title using two or three of these words: Sword, Gold, Crow, Mask, Ballad, Crooked, Willow, Puzzle (And, the, and of can be used too)
- Would you rather fight a butterfly sized dragon or a dragon sized butterfly?
And here’s the questions for The Leibster Award:
- What fictional world would you not want to visit?
- Would you rather be too hot or too cold?
- What is your favorite nonfiction book?
- If you had to choose between living in a tiny house, underground tunnels, or a giant mansion, what would you choose.
- What is the weirdest thing you’ve written with before? (i.e. smearing yogurt around, using a piece of charcoal,)
- Favorite color?
- What is your favorite movie score?
- Kayaking or paddleboarding?
- What is your favorite middle grade book?
- If you had to learn an instrument, what would you pick?
- What four fictional characters would you take with you on a camping trip?
People I’m tagging:
That’s all for today. Until next time!

Hi! I’m Hannah, a crazy pen-wielding, jack-of-all-trades writer. I write contemporary stories with a magical (or vintage!) twist, usually featuring big families, delicious food, and a few tear jerking scenes. When I’m not writing, you could find me camping, sewing, hiking, cycling, skiing, playing violin or piano, reading, and many other “-ing” words.
I’m so glad you did the tag! I loved reading your answers. I can’t believe you’ve never gotten through Pride and Prejudice! You need to try to finish. It is such a good book!
Thank you! I’m not sure why I can’t get through it, but the next time I read it I will conquer Pride and Prejudice!
