A Little Snippet Part 2
Hello Everyone!
I’m back with another snippet. Enjoy!
The Winter Celebration
In the deep of winter, when it’s cold and dark, elves get together to celebrate that they have their loved ones with them. A little elf girl by the name of Iris wasn’t excited for the celebration. She didn’t want her huge family coming to their house and making a mess. More than that, she didn’t want to play with her younger cousins. Being the oldest, it had always been her duty to take care of them while the adults talked with each other.
She was tired of playing the babyish games and wanted to get away from her cousins. So, when everyone came, instead of playing with them, she ignored and teased them. The children saw this, and started doing the same thing to those younger than them. When the adults noticed, they discouraged the behavior, but didn’t realize Iris was the one who had started it.
She kept teasing and picking on the children and the situation continued for the whole celebration. When everyone left, Iris’s older brother came to talk to her.
“Why were you mean to the younger kids today?” he asked.
“I was tired of them following me around and copying what I do.” Iris replied, “Besides, they are really annoying.”
“That’s no reason to be mean to them. They are younger and look up to you. You are their role model, and it’s important to be a good influence on them.”
“But they are so annoying, asking me to play with them and stuff like that.”
“You can tell them that you need a break, but being mean to them like that isn’t good. It shows them that it’s ok to be mean to someone younger, which isn’t right. You need to remember that you have the responsibility of being a good example.”
At that moment, Iris remembered how the children had picked on the ones younger than them the same exact way as she had done to them. She remembered being picked on when she was younger. She vowed to never again be mean to the younger kids, no matter how annoying they got
The Hike
Once upon a time, there was a little elf girl. This girl was shy, and self conscious. When she was older, her father gave her a challenge. “If you climb Mount Elwood, and find the Mystic Lake, you won’t have to do clean our dishes for a year.” At first, she was excited to go. Cleaning the dishes was her least favorite chore. She started planning her hike with her two brothers, but then her father said, “Only you may go.” She asked why, and her father replied, “It is a challenge for you. You must go past your comfort zone.”
She didn’t like being alone. But then the thought of the reward popped into her mind again.
“You must venture into part of the forest that looks the darkest to you. That is the only way to find your path to Mystic Lake.” her father said. So reluctantly, she agreed to go.
She left her family feeling very nervous. She got to the edge of the forest, found the darkest part, and started hiking. At first, she was scared, but she eventually got comfortable. She kept searching, and searching. After a while, she found the lake. She saw the mountains rising up and out of the fog, and felt so much more accomplished, challenged, and confident. She had found what she was looking for.
Until next time!
